Getting There

Badajoz sits on the Madrid-Lisbon corridor, about 400 km from Madrid and 200 km from Lisbon. The city has its own small airport 12 km from the centre, with flights to Madrid and Barcelona.

By train -- RENFE runs services from Madrid to Badajoz, taking around five to six hours. The Talgo service is faster and more comfortable.

By air -- Badajoz airport (BJZ) has daily connections to Madrid and Barcelona operated by Iberia and Air Nostrum.

By car -- The A-5 motorway (Autovia de Extremadura) connects Badajoz directly to Madrid. From Lisbon, take the A6/A2 across the border via Elvas.

By bus -- Regular services run from Madrid's Estacion Sur. The journey takes about four and a half hours.
