Badajoz's sights are concentrated in the old quarter on the hill above the Guadiana. The massive Alcazaba dominates the skyline, and below it a compact cluster of churches, palaces, and museums can be covered on foot in a day. The city also has a surprisingly strong contemporary art scene anchored by the MEIAC.
