Getting There

Cáceres has a railway station on the Madrid–Badajoz–Lisbon line, with regular services to Madrid (journey time approximately 3.5 hours). There are also connections to Plasencia, Mérida, and Badajoz. The station is about 2 kilometres from the old town centre; taxis and local buses connect them.

By road, Cáceres sits on the A-66 (the Ruta de la Plata motorway) running north–south between Gijón and Seville, and on the A-58 running west to Portugal. Madrid is 300 kilometres and about 3 hours by road.

The nearest airport is Badajoz (BJZ), 90 kilometres away, with limited connections; most travelers use Madrid or Lisbon airports for international flights. Lisbon airport is 340 kilometres southwest (around 3.5 hours by road).
