The Calle da Franja and the surrounding streets in the old town form the core of La Coruña's tapas circuit. Bars here are small, standing-room affairs that serve Galician white wine by the glass and free tapas with every drink — a tradition that still holds in much of Galicia. The circuit is best walked on a weekday evening before the city eats dinner around 10pm.
The bars are cheap, the company is local, and the wine is excellent. Start on da Franja and follow your instincts down the side streets.
