When to Go

La Coruña has a mild, wet Atlantic climate — summers are warm without being hot (typically 20–24°C), and winters are cool and rainy but rarely cold. The famous garúa — a fine misting rain that can appear at any time of year — is part of the city's character.

July and August are the warmest months and the most popular for beach visits, though the city fills with Spanish holidaymakers and prices rise. May, June, and September offer the best combination of weather and manageability. Winter is quiet, green, and atmospheric — a good time to appreciate the old town without crowds.

The Festas de María Pita in August fill the city with concerts, street performances, and a medieval market in the Plaza de María Pita. If the timing works, it is worth being here for.
