Laxe das Rodas

Prehistoric Galician petroglyph site above Muros, known for circular rock carvings

Laxe das Rodas is a small prehistoric rock-art site in the hills above Muros. Its carved circles, spirals, cup marks, and channels are easy to miss if you arrive expecting monumentality, but they add a deep-time layer to a coast otherwise dominated by harbours, beaches, and stone villages.

Go in good light and with modest expectations. Low sun helps the carvings stand out, while wet or flat midday light can make them frustratingly faint. The site is best folded into a walk above Muros or Louro rather than treated as a destination by itself.
