Jardines del Posio

A garden connecting the old town to the main square, shaded by chestnut trees

The Posio gardens are a small terraced park on the slope between the cathedral district and the Praza Maior, planted with horse chestnut trees that provide dense shade in summer. They occupy the site of a former convent and the garden's form still reflects the old cloister layout. The views from the upper terrace over the rooftops toward the Miño valley are among the better urban vistas in Ourense.

The gardens are a popular lunchtime retreat for office workers and an afternoon spot for older residents. A quiet detour of 10 minutes from the cathedral to the main square.
