River Miño Waterfront

The riverfront at Tui sits below the old town, at the foot of the hill, where the River Miño marks the border between Spain and Portugal. A promenade runs along the Spanish bank, with views across to the walled fortifications of Valença and the green hills of Portugal beyond.

The waterfront is popular for an evening walk — the light on the river at sunset is fine, and the international bridge with its iron lattice is photogenic from several angles. You can walk the entire promenade from the bridge approach to the old port area in about 20 minutes. Fishermen use the bank regularly, particularly in the morning, catching trout and lamprey from the cold mountain river.
