Tui has a mild Atlantic climate, wetter than much of Spain. Summer (June to August) is the best time to visit — warm, reasonably dry, and when the outdoor terraces are in use. July and August bring the most pilgrims on the Camino Portugués, and the town has a lively atmosphere.
Spring (April to June) is very pleasant for walking, with the countryside green and the weather mild if occasionally wet. Autumn is similar — mild and sometimes rainy. Winter is quiet but the cathedral and old town can be visited year-round.
The Corpus Christi festival in June — when the streets of the old town are decorated with flowers and the cathedral becomes the centrepiece of elaborate processions — is one of the more distinctive local celebrations in Galicia.
