Verín's food is solidly Galician: pulpo á feira (octopus), lacón con grelos (boiled ham with turnip tops), empanadas, and the local wines from the Monterrei DO. The best concentration of restaurants is along the Rúa Luis Espada and around the central plaza. A handful of more ambitious places have opened in the wine villages around Monterrei.
