Pamplona's bar culture is built around the pintxos circuit. The custom is to move between bars over the course of an evening, taking a pintxo or two and a small drink at each stop. The streets of the Casco Antiguo — particularly around Plaza del Castillo, Calle Estafeta, and Calle San Nicolás — are where the action is from around 20:00 onward.
During San Fermín the bars barely close. The rest of the year the city is quieter but still lively at weekends. Navarra's wines — reds and the pale rosados that the region does particularly well — are the right thing to drink.
