Things to Do

Pamplona is a city made for walking. The compact old town is full of hidden squares, medieval churches, and ramparts with views over the river Arga and the green hills beyond. Most of the interesting sights cluster within the old walls, easily covered on foot in a day.

The star-shaped fortifications are among the best-preserved Renaissance military architecture in Spain. The Ciudadela, the enormous pentagonal fortress at the heart of the defences, is now a park and cultural space. From there, the city walls loop north past the Taconera gardens and the Caballo Blanco viewpoint, offering some of the best panoramas in the city.
