Benicàssim's restaurants split sharply between the chiringuitos and beach paellerías along the seafront, where the speciality is wood-fired rice — arroz a banda, arroz negro, the local fideuá and of course paella — and the more traditional tapas bars and old-style restaurants in the village centre. As elsewhere in the Castelló province, the citrus fruit is excellent and the local sparkling wine, cava del Mediterráneo, is worth trying. For a full Valencian seafood meal of rice and fish, a long lunch at one of the beach restaurants is the local way.
