Benicàssim's two great draws are very different: a six-kilometre run of sandy beaches with good Mediterranean swimming, and the steep, scrubby hills of the Desert de les Palmes behind town, with monasteries, hermitages, and walking trails through pine forest. In summer the FIB festival turns the town into one of Spain's biggest pop-music venues for a week.
