SS Trafik

The steamer Trafik (S/S Trafik) is Hjo's signature attraction and the reason the harbour is worth a stop even if you have no intention of boarding. Launched in 1892 and still running her original steam engine, she is among the oldest operating steamships in the world. In summer she does scheduled tours on Lake Vättern from the Hjo quay.

Buy tickets at the harbour kiosk. A typical run is a two-hour evening cruise; longer charters cross to the island of Visingsö or down the coast. Even if you don't sail, watching her steam in and out of the harbour is one of the small pleasures of an afternoon in town.
