Uppsala's proximity to Stockholm means excellent transport connections. Commuter trains (SL pendeltåg) run to Stockholm Central every 30 minutes during the day, taking about 40 minutes. Faster SJ regional trains make the trip in under 30 minutes. A single ticket costs around 60-100 SEK.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport is less than 50 km away. Direct buses connect the airport to Uppsala in about 20 minutes, making it an easy first or last stop on a Swedish trip.
By car, the north-south E4 motorway passes directly through Uppsala, and the E18 runs just south of the city. Uppsala also has intercity rail connections heading north toward Gävle and Sundsvall and south toward Stockholm and beyond.
