Klosters

Klosters is Davos's quieter, prettier neighbour — a traditional Swiss village 10 km down the valley, connected to Davos by train and by ski lift via the shared Parsenn area. Where Davos is functional and urban, Klosters is exactly what you imagine when you picture a Swiss mountain village: low wooden chalets, a church spire, and mountains rising steeply on all sides.

The skiing from Klosters accesses the same Parsenn terrain as Davos, but the village atmosphere is entirely different. The Gotschna-Parsenn area accessible from Klosters has some of the best runs in the region, including the long Gotschna-Klosters descent. As a day trip from Davos, Klosters is simply a 15-minute train ride; it's worth spending at least one day based there for lunch and a different perspective on the terrain.

A story
Klosters has been the preferred Swiss resort of the British royal family since the 1970s — Prince Charles has been a regular visitor for decades, and several members of the family have maintained long-standing relationships with the same local guides and chalet owners. The resort has an understated, old-money quality entirely absent from flashier Davos.
