The standard Interlaken paragliding experience launches from the slopes above Beatenberg at roughly 2,000 metres and glides for twenty to thirty minutes down to land on the Höhenmatte meadow in the centre of town. You need no experience whatsoever — a qualified pilot sits behind you and handles everything. What you get is a bird's-eye view of Interlaken between its two lakes and the Jungfrau massif rising straight ahead, which is one of the better views available from the air in Switzerland.
Multiple operators run tandem flights from April to October, with transport up to the launch site included. Prices are competitive and broadly similar between operators — it pays to book ahead in July and August. The entire operation, from town to air to landing, takes a couple of hours. Heavier wind conditions can cause cancellations; reputable operators will reschedule rather than fly in unsafe conditions.
