The Museum of Art of Italian Switzerland (MASI) occupies the former casino building right on the lakefront, making it one of the better-situated art museums in the country. The collection focuses on 20th-century Swiss and Ticino art, with particular strength in artists who worked in the region — including several who came south from German-speaking Switzerland, drawn by the light and the landscape. The changing exhibition programme is consistently good. Worth visiting even if contemporary art is not normally your thing.
