The Piazza della Riforma is the elegant arcaded main square at the heart of the city, and the place where Lugano's public life happens. Café terraces spill across the paving stones, and there's generally no reason to rush. On Saturday mornings there's a good street market. In summer, the square becomes the focal point of the Lugano Estival Jazz festival, with free outdoor concerts drawing large crowds. The covered arcades running along the sides of the square shelter a mix of cafés, bars, and shops.
