Simmental's pleasures are unhurried and largely outdoors. The valley's main draws are its hiking — especially the network of trails connecting the alpine pastures above Zweisimmen and Lenk — and the Lenk ski area in winter. History sits quietly in the background: medieval chapels, surviving farmsteads, and the ruins of Bürgelenstock-era castles. The Simme river itself deserves more attention than it gets.
