St. Moritz Olympic Ice Rink

The Olympic Ice Rink at St. Moritz was the venue for figure skating and speed skating at the 1928 and 1948 Winter Olympics, making it one of a very small number of outdoor rinks with two Olympic Games to its credit. It remains in use through the winter season and is open for public skating alongside more serious training and competition.

The rink's outdoor setting — open to the sky, backed by mountain scenery — makes it a different experience from any indoor arena. On clear winter days the light is extraordinary. It also hosts ice hockey, curling, and the polo-related winter events that crowd the St. Moritz calendar from January through March. The White Turf horse races and other festival events use the frozen lake nearby, but the ice rink is the heart of the resort's winter sporting calendar.
