Lake Silvaplana is the sporty counterpoint to polished St Moritz. The Maloja wind funnels through the Engadin on many summer afternoons, turning the lake into a high-altitude playground for windsurfers and kitesurfers.
Even if you are not getting on a board, it is worth watching from shore when the wind is up. For participants, the water is cold and the setting is serious alpine terrain, so local schools and current conditions matter more than bravado.
