Le Caveau

Classic Valais fondue and raclette spot off the village square

A small, low-ceilinged room just off Place Centrale that has been serving fondue, raclette and assiette valaisanne for decades. The format is unchanged: lift the wooden cheese-board, the apricot brandy and the Fendant are already on the table, the host comes and stays.

It is touristy by definition but more honest than most. Expect to pay CHF 30–40 per person for a fondue with bread and a glass of wine. Closed in late spring and again in October; otherwise booking is strongly recommended in season.
