Zug's café scene is concentrated around the old town and along the lakeside promenade. The city is prosperous enough to support good coffee, and several independent cafés line the lanes near the Zytturm. Etter Distillery, the most famous producer of Zug Kirsch, runs tastings from its facility in Zug — this is the best place to try authentic cherry schnapps alongside a tasting of aged spirits.
The bars around Kolinplatz and Fischmarkt are the liveliest in the evening, catering mainly to a local professional crowd. Zug doesn't have much in the way of nightlife, but the café culture is genuine and unhurried, and the lakeside terraces in summer are hard to beat.
