Getting There

Zug is one of the best-connected small cities in Switzerland. Direct trains run to Zurich in about 25 minutes and to Lucerne in about 20 minutes. The railway station is centrally located and the old town is a 5-minute walk from it. From Zurich Airport, take any train towards Zurich Hauptbahnhof and then a direct service to Zug — the whole journey takes under an hour.

By car, Zug is just off the A4 motorway between Zurich and Lucerne, about 30km from each. Parking in the old town is limited; the lake waterfront has a public car park. Cycling into Zug from surrounding villages is practical on a network of flat, well-signed paths around the lake.
