One of the largest history museums in Ukraine, with over 200,000 items spread across ten halls covering the full arc from prehistoric settlement through Cossack history, the industrial era, and the Soviet period. The exterior features a large panoramic diorama of a Second World War battle. The museum gives a thorough grounding in the city's complex history — including its long spell as a secret closed city.
