Church of St. Nicholas

One of Lviv’s oldest surviving churches, set just north of the historic center.

The Church of St. Nicholas is among Lviv's oldest surviving churches, standing north of the main historic core in an area that once lay close to the princely city. Its modest scale makes it easy to overlook beside Lviv's grander Baroque and Renaissance monuments.

That modesty is exactly why it is worth seeking out. The church gives a better sense of medieval Lviv and the city's eastern Christian layers than the more theatrical churches around Rynok Square. Check access respectfully, as it remains an active place of worship.
