Lviv has an excellent restaurant scene for a city of its size — diverse, affordable, and increasingly sophisticated. Ukrainian cuisine dominates (borshch, varenyky, deruny), but the city's Central European heritage shows in the coffee culture, the pastry shops, and the fondness for good bread. Restaurants in the old town cater heavily to tourists but are generally decent; better value is often found a few streets off the main squares.
