Two connected medieval buildings form this free museum of Leicester social history, from the Tudor period to the 20th century. Wygston's Chantry House is one of the oldest surviving domestic buildings in the city; Skeffington House has a peaceful garden planted in period style.
Inside, the displays cover everyday life in Leicester across the centuries — toys, clocks, clothing, and domestic objects accumulated from the city's past. The clock collection is particularly extensive. The museum is quieter and less visited than the main sights nearby, which makes it pleasant to browse at your own pace.
