Hockley is Nottingham's hipster quarter — a clutch of streets east of the city centre (Broad Street, Goose Gate, Carlton Street) packed with independent shops, vintage clothes, record dealers, vegan cafes and a couple of the city's best bars. The Broadway Cinema is the cultural anchor: a four-screen independent film theatre with a serious programme of art-house and world cinema and a popular cafe-bar attached.
Hockley sits next door to the Lace Market geographically but feels distinct — younger, scruffier, more weekday-rewarding. Worth a couple of hours wandering on a Saturday afternoon.
