Cleeve Hill rises directly above Cheltenham and is the highest point in the Cotswolds. The summit area is open common land rather than a single fenced viewpoint, so the pleasure is in wandering over grassland, old quarry edges, and sheep-grazed slopes while the Severn Vale opens below.
It is one of the easiest ways to add real countryside to a Cheltenham stay. On a clear day the views run across to Wales; in rough weather the hill can feel exposed and wild, a useful reminder that the Cotswolds are not all tidy villages and tea rooms.
