A heated outdoor pool dating from 1935, set in a small park in the residential streets south of the town centre. Grade II listed and still operating, it is one of the best surviving examples of the 1930s municipal lido boom — proper outdoor swimming, with a learner pool, grass banks for lying in the sun, and a cafe. The main pool is 50 metres long.
Open from May to September. It gets busy on warm weekends — arrive early or go on a weekday afternoon. The combination of Art Deco architecture and English summer swimming is exactly as pleasant as it sounds, and the place has a loyal following among Cheltenham locals. If you're visiting in summer, this is a better use of an afternoon than another lap of the shopping promenade.
