Rockbourne Roman Villa is the excavated remains of a large Roman courtyard villa southwest of Salisbury. The site developed over several centuries, from the 1st to the 5th century, before disappearing under fields until it was rediscovered in the 20th century.
The surviving mosaics, bath-house remains, and foundations make it a good stop for anyone interested in Roman Britain beyond the major museum pieces. It works best by car, combined with other villages and prehistoric sites in the Avon valley.
