The city centre is walkable — the Bullring, Victoria Square, Centenary Square, and Brindleyplace are all within 15 minutes on foot of New Street station. The tram network (West Midlands Metro) runs from Wolverhampton through West Bromwich to Grand Central/New Street and extends toward Edgbaston; new extensions are regularly being added.
Buses are operated by National Express West Midlands and cover the wider city and suburbs. The city centre has several pedestrianised zones. A car is useful for reaching the Balti Triangle, Aston Hall, Cadbury World in Bournville, and attractions further out.
Taxis are plentiful from the rank at New Street station, Broad Street, and the Bullring. Private hire (minicabs) are cheaper for pre-booked journeys. Cycling infrastructure has improved considerably in recent years.
