Birmingham is a year-round city. The indoor cultural offer — museums, galleries, concert halls, theatres — is unaffected by season, and the city is primarily a cultural and commercial destination rather than a seasonal one.
Summer (June to August) is when outdoor events concentrate: the Mostly Jazz, Funk and Soul Festival in Moseley Park, the Birmingham International Food and Drink Festival, and various outdoor concerts. The canal basins and outdoor seating come into their own in warm weather.
December brings the Frankfurt Christmas Market, one of the UK's largest outside Germany, to Victoria Square and New Street — a big draw that brings significant crowds but a good atmosphere. Accommodation prices fluctuate with major events at the NEC and the city's conference calendar rather than with the seasons.
