St Chad's Cathedral

Augustus Pugin-designed Catholic cathedral near Birminghams Jewellery Quarter

St Chads Cathedral is one of Birminghams strongest Gothic Revival interiors and an important work by Augustus Pugin. Built in the 1840s, it was among the first Catholic cathedrals raised in England after the Reformation, and it still carries that sense of restored confidence.

The exterior is hemmed in by modern roads, but step inside for the pointed arches, stained glass, and quieter atmosphere. It pairs well with the nearby Jewellery Quarter and the citys industrial-era churches.
