Eating Out

Wolverhampton's food scene reflects the city's demographics in the most positive way. The Sikh and British-Punjabi community has been here since the 1950s and 60s, and the result is some of the best South Asian cooking in the Midlands. The Bilston Road and Wednesfield Road areas have a high concentration of South Asian restaurants and sweet shops; the karahi and balti cooking here is a step above what you will find in city centres that cater more obviously to tourists.

The Caribbean community has also left its mark, and jerk chicken and rice and peas are readily available from market stalls and small takeaways. The city centre has the usual chain restaurants, but heading to the residential areas around Whitmore Reans or Blakenhall will find better value and more interesting food.
