Stoke is a city of working potteries, a remarkable museum, and unusually green parks for an industrial town. Plan a day around a factory tour, a couple of hours at the Potteries Museum to see the Staffordshire Hoard, and an afternoon at Trentham Gardens or Monkey Forest. The six towns that make up Stoke — Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley, Stoke, Fenton, and Longton — each have their own character, with Hanley acting as the de facto city centre and Burslem as the historic "mother town" of the pottery industry.
