The Postal Order is a large Wetherspoon pub housed in the former General Post Office building near Foregate Street station, with a good range of real ales and ciders at consistent prices. It is the obvious option for a pre-train drink or a cheap lunch, and the building itself — a solid Edwardian brick post office with tall windows and ornate plasterwork — is better than most Wetherspoons premises. The covered beer garden is popular in summer.
