Mercer Art Gallery

The Mercer Art Gallery occupies the former Promenade Room, a handsome Regency building on Swan Road that was once a social hub of the spa era, offering readings, concerts, and exhibitions to visiting patients. Today it houses Harrogate's municipal art collection, including a significant number of Victorian and Edwardian works, and puts on a changing programme of temporary exhibitions.

Entry is free. The permanent collection includes paintings that document Harrogate's history as a spa resort, alongside works by artists connected to the north of England. Worth a look if you have an hour to spare, particularly for the building itself.
