Hebden Water

Stream running through town and up toward wooded Hardcastle Crags.

Hebden Water is the stream that gives the town its name and leads walkers up toward the wooded valley of Hardcastle Crags. In town it is easy to miss amid bridges, walls, and shops; upstream it becomes the thread for one of the area's best low-level walks.

Follow it when the moors are too exposed or when you want a route that starts gently. The valley is also a reminder that Hebden Bridge's beauty and flood risk come from the same geography.
