Kiplin Hall is a red-brick country house built in the 1620s as a hunting lodge for George Calvert, later Lord Baltimore and founder of Maryland. The odd placement of its four towers, set midway along each side rather than at the corners, gives the house a distinctive outline.
Parts of the hall and its grounds are open to visitors. It works well as a quiet historic-house stop from Richmond, especially for travelers interested in early Stuart architecture or the Maryland connection.
