Castle Museum

folk museum in a former prison with a Victorian street

One of England's best folk museums, built into a former prison next to Clifford's Tower. The Victorian street reconstruction (Kirkgate) is the centrepiece — a full-length cobbled street with authentic shop fronts and period interiors. The museum also covers weapons, costumes, and the last cell of highwayman Dick Turpin. Surprisingly good value.
