Snaefell is the Isle of Man's only mountain, rising above Laxey to 2,036 feet. On a clear day the summit view is famous for taking in the island and the surrounding seas, with Scotland, England, Ireland, and Wales sometimes visible on the horizon.
The seasonal Snaefell Mountain Railway makes the summit unusually accessible, but walkers can still earn it the old-fashioned way. Weather changes quickly up here, so treat even the easy railway version as a mountain outing rather than a guaranteed postcard.
