Laxey's two railways alone are worth a visit — the Victorian electric trams that connect the village to Douglas and Ramsey, and the narrow-gauge Snaefell Mountain Railway that climbs the island's highest peak. But the Laxey Wheel is the centrepiece: a feat of Victorian industrial engineering that still turns, pumping water as it has since 1854.
