Samson and Goliath are not a museum exhibit so much as Belfast's biggest industrial punctuation marks. The two yellow Harland and Wolff gantry cranes rise over Queen's Island and the Titanic Quarter, reminders that this waterfront was once one of the great shipbuilding landscapes of Europe.
You see them from many parts of the city, but they make most sense on a walk around the Maritime Mile, Titanic Belfast, and the old docklands. They are still working-yard structures rather than climbable attractions, so the pleasure is visual and historical: a skyline shorthand for the scale of the industry that built the Titanic and shaped east Belfast.
