Getting There

Arran is reached by CalMac ferry. The main crossing runs from Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast to Brodick (about 55 minutes), with several sailings a day year-round — book ahead in summer. A shorter seasonal crossing operates between Claonaig on the Kintyre peninsula and Lochranza on Arran's north tip, useful if approaching from Argyll.

From Brodick, Whiting Bay is about ten miles south along the coastal road — a pleasant drive or a longer bike ride. Local buses circle the island and stop at Whiting Bay, but the service is infrequent, so check timetables in advance if you are relying on public transport.
