Muthill Old Church

A ruined medieval parish church and round tower in the old village of Muthill

Muthill Old Church sits in a quiet graveyard south of Crieff, with a roofless medieval nave and one of Scotland's rare surviving round towers. The tower is the reason to stop: its plain, compact form feels much older than the later parish ruins around it, and it gives the village a sharper historical edge than its size suggests.

It is a short detour rather than a half-day sight, best paired with Drummond Castle Gardens or a drive through Strathearn. Walk the churchyard slowly, look for the layered stonework, and leave time for the village itself, which has the calm, lived-in feel that many Highland-edge day trips miss.
