Bruntsfield Links is a stretch of common ground at the boundary between Morningside and the Meadows, where golf has been played since the 15th century — one of the oldest golf sites in the world. The Links itself now has a free 36-hole short course (club hire available) that is heavily used by locals; the surrounding grass is a popular park for Morningside and Marchmont residents. The view from the Links toward the Castle and Arthur's Seat is one of the better panoramas of Edinburgh's volcanic landscape. A good place to walk on a Sunday morning before the Morningside Road cafes get too crowded.
